Messages and reminders the Washington Department of Transportation could share on the normally unused freeway signs:
- Merge at the last opportunity - zipper merge. Merging earlier just slows traffic on one or both lanes.
- Drive a little Slower - it won't really take longer to get where you're going, there's less wear on the equipment and it's safer.
- Don't cross Gore Points - is it still a fine over $400?
- Never cross double white lines - HOV lane or not.
